The Takshashila Institution ( takshashila.org.in ), India and South Asia's premier public policy-oriented advocacy and practice think-tank, based in Bengaluru, invited C-SAS Director Sudeep Chakravarti to address its current senior public policy cohort on 27th July 2023. The subject was the major ethno-political crisis in the Indian state of Manipur, and its local and regional implications with regard to society and security. Professor Chakravarti is an acknowledged expert on matters related to Northeastern India and Eastern South Asia.
Ninety participants, most of them serving officials of the Government of India, including several from the armed forces, attended. Professor Chakravarti joined in from Dhaka to present a 360-degree deep dive.
The free and frank address and subsequent exchange of views underscored the need for more such conversations and discussions aimed at understanding conflict situations and to mitigate them. Alongside the urgent matter of peoples' lives and livelihoods, there is an entire region at stake.
As exemplified by this interaction, C-SAS seeks to reorient policy and practice to secure positive futures for South Asia.
